What is DNS?

DNS, which stands for Domain Name System (or sometimes Service/Server), is responsible for translating domain names into IP addresses. Since the internet operates on IP addresses, every time you use a domain name, a DNS server translates that name into the corresponding IP address.

A DNS server is a computer that takes a domain name and returns its correct IP address, which represents the domain's actual location on the internet.
